If one or more people appeal or object to the final proposal, the matter will be forwarded to the Local Government Commission to make the final determination regarding Ashburton District's representation arrangements for the 2025 local body elections.

If required, a hearing will be held on 27 November 2024. The latest date that the Commission can advise the final outcome is 10 April 2025.

If we do not receive any appeals or objections, the final proposal will become the representation arrangements for the next local body elections.

Appeals can only be lodged by those who have submitted on the initial proposal.

An appeal must relate to the matters raised in that person's submission.

Because Council made a change to its initial proposal, it is now open to objections (as well as appeals).

Objections can be made by anyone. An objection can be on any part of the proposal, but the objection must identify which matters it relates to.
